Schultz Dairy Farm
The Schultz dairy and grain farm is owned and operated by father and son duo Alvin and Mitchell Schultz. The farm was established in 1911. Mitch, a fourth-generation dairy farmer, is married to Wendy and they have 3 kids. The Schultz's currently farm about 2,000 acres, 500 of which is grown to silage for the cows, and feed a total mix ration of peas, barley, and corn. The farm hosts 115 cows that they milk in a double six parallel parlor. Their heifers are all raised onsite and all breeding is done through artificial insemination with the goal of steadily improving the overall genetics of the herd.
Saskatchewan farms produce over 700,000 litres of milk every day and more than 2,600 people work on dairy production. When you add in milk transportation & processing, there are more than 4,800 people work in dairy. #farmfact
